Bush's Nonexistent Economic Recovery
Paul Krugman writes today in The New York Times: "Bush campaign ads boast that 1.5 million jobs were added in the last 10 months, as if that were a remarkable achievement. It isn't. During the Clinton years, the economy added 236,000 jobs in an average month. Those 1.5 million jobs were barely enough to keep up with a growing working-age population." This says a great deal about how our economy is doing - times are not getting any easier for working folks (and especially for folks who are trying to find work. So much for the miracle-generating powers of Bush's tax breaks (you know, the ones that have made rich folks richer and put us as a nation trillions of dollars in debt). This is just one more example of why we should look skeptically at every single word that comes out of the Bush administration's collective mouth.

Hey, did you see Farenheit 9/11 yet? Wow, now that was depressing. I followed that act up with a satirical musical in Dolores Park the next day depicting the corruptions of the Bush administraion. It's been a real alternative patriotism this 4th of July weekend.

Hey, maybe next year (if you-know-who is still in office, maybe we ought to sponsor an alternative Fourth of July event -- you know, one for REAL patriots.
Mom and I saw "Fahrenheit 9/11". As she said, "It's not a movie you enjoy!" How true! But, it's a movie that, hopefully, lots of people wil see -- and then "vote the bum out of office". I belong to a clergy forum here in the annual conference, and there has been discussion about the movie. I wrote a fairly lenghty piece about it. You should have seen the lambasting I got from some guy I don't even know. Then I wrote an even lengthier response back to his comments. The fun continues........
